When you start working at North Penn Volkswagen, you will receive paid training and uniform assistance. In addition to competitive pay, we also have generous holiday pay, vacation days, sick days, and a retention bonus. As a technician, you will be eligible for annual payouts starting on your second program anniversary including up to $1,000 of bonus incentives, $5,000 on your third anniversary, and $2,000 each anniversary afterwards. As an automotive technician at North Penn Volkswagen, you will be expected to bring vehicles back to the stall area as soon as you receive a repair order. You will then need to perform the work that is outlined in that order, including any diagnostic work. If you find that the requested repair is not necessary, or that it will take longer than promised, or that additional work is needed, you will alert the service advisor. In addition, you will be required to let the parts department know if you need any parts or fluids. If you are performing warranty work, or if the customer requests it, you must tag and save parts.
When you perform maintenance, you must keep the customer’s car clean and follow federal, state, and local regulations governing service repair work, as well as meeting dealership and factory standards. You will be required to document any work you perform and perform a road test to make sure that any complaints have been addressed.
In addition to performing quality maintenance, you will be expected to attend regular training classes and to keep abreast of all factory technical bulletins.

We understand your skill set may not be the same as the technician in the bay across the shop and we can develop a pay plan that helps maximize your income based on your attributes. We offer a positive and fun work atmosphere. Our team understands the difficulties of maintaining or repairing vehicles. We respect our technicians for the physically and mentally challenging work they provide to our customers. Our company culture is one that has crafted industry leading technician retention with four Master VW techs, three who’ve been with our store for over 20 years. North Penn Volkswagen’s shop is heated with two natural gas overhead heaters and radiant floor heat throughout the bays, fueled by waste oil. The shop is Air Conditioned during the warmer months to keep our team comfortable. Our shop doors are opened when possible to provide fresh air and a cool breeze in Spring or Fall.
Each team of technicians has a dedicated Assistant Service Manager and Parts Associate. Each team has a team leader/Master technician for diagnostic support. Most issues can be diagnosed before opening a support ticket. Our Warranty Admin is onsite daily to provide warranty assistance. Our dealership provides the special tools needed to perform tasks beyond the specialties that your toolbox includes. Special tools are organized and cataloged for efficiency using Snap-On tool storage application. Our lifts are inspected annually for safety compliance and service regularly to maintain smooth operation.

Side work or use of the shop after hours is available for employee or family owned vehicles on a case by case basis with approval from management.
We encourage continued factory training for our service technicians. Our goal is to be at the cutting edge of technology, tooling and training. All technicians are required to fulfill quarterly and annual training with KPA EHS and Volkswagen Academy. Most training is available online, in a game type learning system that earns points for watching, “liking” and commenting on training. Points can be used to purchase swag, gifts, or pre-paid gift cards. One annual Instructor Led Training is a required per year. Best part? You’re paid your daily average instead of a flat 8 hours while you’re at school.
Apprentice technicians will attend Volkswagen’s FastTrack program which includes four weeks of training over two month. FastTrack provides a deep dive into Volkswagen’s databases, repair order documentation, warranty basics, scan tool operation, HVAC, wiring diagrams and diagnostics. Continued education is available and highly encouraged to help you succeed in your career. North Penn VW reimburses for successful completion of ASE certifications, Inspection/Emissions certifications, specialty alignment education courses and other continued education.
