Space

The first rows are relatively similar, although the Volkswagen sedan has over two extra inches of rear legroom, as well as slightly more second-row hip and shoulder room. The Volkswagen sedan also has a 14.1 cubic-foot trunk, as opposed to the 13.2 cubic feet in the Mazda sedan.

Premium Cabin Space

Both sedans have refined cabins, but the Volkswagen sedan takes it up a notch. It’s equipped with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and Climatronic® Touch dual-zone automatic climate control, which are only options in the Mazda3. It also adds ventilated front seats and ambient interior lighting, which aren’t even available in the Mazda sedan.
