How Fast Is the Volkswagen Golf GTI?

There’s so much fun to be had behind the wheel of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. In fact, with a maximum of 241 horsepower, it may even be more powerful than you realize. North Penn Volkswagen is sharing its performance specs to give you a closer look.
Potent Power
As the original hot hatch, it’s no surprise that the 2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI is primed to perform. It comes equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI® 16-valve DOHC turbo four-cylinder engine, which generates up to 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. That helps you accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in as little as six seconds.
Driving Mode Selection
The sporty hatchback is also equipped with a Driving Mode Selection feature, so you can decide when you want to ramp up the power even more or preserve your fuel instead. It features Normal, Sport, and Eco modes. There’s also a Custom mode, which you can configure with your own preferences.
Additional Performance Features
There are several more performance features packed into the 2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI, such as its progressive steering and sport suspension. Additional performance features you’ll want to try out include:
- Seven-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters
- Digital sport layout gauges
- Red brake calipers with vented front (13.4 inch) and rear (12.2 inch) brake rotors
