Volkswagen Hybrids Coming to the USA

Exciting new releases are coming to the Volkswagen lineup. Both the Volkswagen Tiguan and Volkswagen Atlas are getting hybrid versions for notable power and efficiency. North Penn Volkswagen is sharing all the exciting details.
New Hybrid Models
Volkswagen vehicles have already forged into their future with their all-electric lineup. However, we recognize that many drivers prefer the peace of mind that comes with a hybrid car, which uses electric power but has gasoline power as a reserve. That’s why we are excited to see hybrid versions of the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Volkswagen Atlas slated for the North American lineup.
Existing Lineup
Currently, no hybrid Volkswagen vehicles are being sold in the United States. Both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Volkswagen Atlas are being sold in other markets though. According to Thomas Schafer, the Volkswagen CEO of Passenger Cars, “adding hybrids to our portfolio is very high on our agenda,” and he is hearing retailers’ requests for these models “loud and clear.”
Release Date
According to Schafer, the plan is to “get hybrids into our portfolio in North America as soon as possible”. However, it will likely be a few years before they are sold in the United States. It’s also undecided whether these models will be released as a traditional hybrid or plug-in hybrid model. However, we anticipate it would be one or the other rather than both.
